Chemical Stress Test

What is a chemical stress test?

A chemical stress test helps your doctor determine how well your heart responds to stress. For patients who cannot run on a treadmill or have pacemakers, a chemical is used to simulate exercise. Once your heart reaches its target heart rate, an echocardiogram is done to assess heart function and motion.

How do I prepare?

  • Detailed instructions will be provided in office once the test is scheduled.

  • If you are unable to keep your appointment, please notify our office and the hospital 24 hours in advance.
